An Early Start to Learn Foreign Languages

Education can be defined as is an act or experience that has a determinative effect on the physical mind and the character ability of an individual. In other words, education can be described as a process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another take for example the language which is the symbols we use as a means for communicating ideas. Writing, reading, gestures and speech are all forms of symbolic arm language combining sound effect. Educators debate whether learning more than a language for kindergarten students may enhance the performance of children’s brain so they develop their communication skills and increase their understandability of their own language. Although most educators and parents are in favour with the learning language in an early stage, still there are some evidence that learning children foreign languages yield negative results, and it may be perceived as a threat to first language development and identity.
Advocates of an early learning stage of a foreign language proclaim that children who are adequately exposed to two languages at an early age experience gains. They are more flexible and creative, and they reach high levels of cognitive development at an earlier age than their monolingual peers (Hamayan, 1986). On the other hand , Concerned with the fact that negative backwash effects commonly exist with learning foreign language .Likewise in China, where the is undesirable results in the teaching of foreign languages and the intellectual development of young people, the researchers in both the UAE and Kuwait proved that The teaching English in the first row may have a negative impact on the kinetic order of child, optical resulting difficulty in writing for each type of orientation, like children try to write their native language words in opposite directions, and so on some benchmarks for instance (66-65 thus 65-66),and (76 thus 67). If this confusion originally exists in the child performance it will be worse with the entry of other language . (Emta’a,29-43)
Another point that the study of foreign languages has also been shown to have positive effects on memory and listening skills. While children are developing the ability to communicate in a different language system, they also learn to see language as a phenomenon in itself. (Curtain & Pesola, 1988).In addition Many English words share Latin roots with Spanish, French and other languages. Learning the meaning of a foreign word enhances a student's chance of knowing the meaning of an English word. (Thibaut, 25-30).But in fact those who their native language doesn’t related to these foreign languages will suffer from increasing the number of symbols and phonetics this in turn may result in linguistic interference which creates a poor foundation of both languages.

Moreover Study of a foreign language and culture can serve as an important vehicle by which to expand their intercultural views. According to many child psychologists, children reach an important developmental stage at the age of ten (Lambert, & Klineberg, 1967). "Children are in the process of moving from egocentricity to reciprocity, and information introduced before the age of ten is eagerly received" (Curtain, & Pesola, 1988, p. 4). With this expansion, children will have the freedom to explore the wealth of values and perceptions of the world; they will not be restricted to any one narrow view of life or one limited set of options (Carpenter & Torney, 1973). However , as children are susceptible in early ages to anything they see or learn about and among the pace of the life and the parents’ business ,it’s difficult to control their propensity and it hard to impede their strong desire to investigate every detail in their lives. Consequently children may be psychologically nurtured a personality looks weird from the society .That in turn effect his character in the future.
All in all, if education is a means by which to prepare children for the complicated world that they inhabit, to give them tools with which to understand new challenges, then the educational system should offer an expansive curriculum as early as possible. Research has shown that through foreign language study, elementary school children receive the opportunity to expand their thinking, to acquire global awareness, to extend their understanding of language as a phenomenon, and to reach an advanced proficiency level in that foreign language. Parents, educators, and policymakers should find these reasons more than enough to prove the benefits of beginning foreign language study in the elementary school.

Effects of Modern Technology on the Life Aspects

Technology is defined as the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science. Has the modern technology helped the people to live better or it has made their lives more complicated? Now a days the world welcomes any idea to improve the technology to which people look forward to make their lives easier in terms of fast communication , easy and comfortable traveling , and good health care treatment ; however ,the loneliness , the sickness, the boredom ,and the world destruction weapons are brought by modern technology too.

The computer, phone, and the internet are the most significant inventions in our life, in which we believe that fit us out for achieving our goals from our seats and getting in touch with each other easily. A web site stated that the internet has changed the whole perspective of the world. It allows just about everything to be completed online, from doing your everyday shopping to doing your banking online. In the past, stock brokers justified their high fees by pointing to the quality of their advice; now knowledgeable amateurs as well as industry experts can trade stock for no charge in web sites. Investors can get advice and market information from many sources other than full-service brokers, so they are less willing to pay a premium just to trade.( The implication of Modern Technology on Financial System ,1-11 ). On the other hand, these inventions give rise to debilitate the relationship among the people .For example using the solo-phones or the Internet to chat with friends sounds amazing and lovely way to keep in touch with them, but what about the strength of the relationship among each other!. It is not as strong as you see them physically. Also the family is no longer use to debate their issues when they sit together. Everyone keeps his attention on the program, miniseries or a game is being watched on the TV or the video game. Consequently, every one becomes socially isolated and prefers to be alone than being with others.

The transportation is another aspect of life has taken a wide field in the technology revolution. Unlike before, now you can travel thousands of kilometers in just hours by planes or trains; moreover, the cars and buses play an important role in urban areas where people need to be in their works on time or reach their visit distention without effort. For example, the ancient cities of Europe were very small in size and had a relatively small population. With the emergence of transportation technology, the sizes of cities and population grew. Also, a web site stated that the rise of the modern city and the rise of transportation technology had a great effect on the people and development of the city. As transportation technology emerged, the boundaries of the city were able to expand by people now having the opportunity to live away from their work. The introduction of the horse and buggy allowed mobility from the city, to the outskirts of the city, and within the city itself. It allowed the radius of the city to grow because the people no longer have to walk everywhere and so with easier accessibility to the city, businesses, and a central area of commerce was created and began to separate residential and businesses. (Modern transportation, 1-10)
Our health “physically and mentally” is also affected by the technology expansion. One point is that some simple devices such as the remote control , the lap top or the video play station, have been developed to provide the easiness in the life. These things let us sitting down all the time , following some given instructions ,away from being playing with the others some real sports or doing an interesting hobby .The other point is the drugs which assuage the pain , control our sleep ,or regulate our shapes ; indeed these things are magic tools that accomplish the change we need in our modes or activities ; meanwhile , according to a web site that stated “Electronic devices and pharmaceutical drugs all have an impact on the micro- cellular structure and complex biochemistry of our brains. And that, in turn, affects our personality, our behavior and our characteristics.” (Greenfield, Susan, 54-60), these tools prevent our bodies from acting naturally and lead to disorder in the hormonic system state .In addition, it is true that modern technology improves the way of treatment like “operations assistant”, but most of the modern illnesses were resulted from some kinds of technology . For instance “Cancer” is due to radioactivity and “Heart Attack” is due to the lack of movement or sports.

Another point is that, although the modern technology enables the people to explore the world and broadens their knowledge about events around the world, it makes the life style sameness. For example, before people have different cultures and traditions like the way they wearing the clothes or building their houses; now, they tend to wear the same fashion of clothes and build the same style of houses. In short our human identity is being alerted by the modern world.

In addition, even more worse and complicated situations in wars and criminal punishments are due to the growth of technology. The world was in peace and quiet. The wars was simple, the only swords and horses were used, by which the situations were compromised with less deaths and pain; now, with the invention of nuclear and atomic bombs, the destruction can be vastly tragedy, and the terrorist can use grenades to attach honest people who have different tendency from their group. What’s more, today capital punishment is typically consummated by lethal gas, injection, electrocution, hanging or shooting. The death penalty is the most controversial penal practice in the modern world. Other harsh, physical forms of criminal punishment- referred to as corporal punishment- have generally been eliminated in modern times as uncivilized and unnecessary. A web site stated” In the majority of countries, contemporary methods of punishment such as imprisonment or fines – no longer involve the infliction of physical pain. Although imprisonment and fines are universally recognizes as necessary to the control of crime, the nations of the world are split on the issue of capital punishment. About 80 nations have abolished the death penalty and an almost unequal number of nations retain it. (Modern Technology, 1-11).
All in all, modern technology is not only providing our lives in many facilities like the speed , the accuracy , and the comfort which saves time and effort, but also gives rise to serious impacts like the change of human identity_ the loneless , boredom and viciousness, and the sicknesses . Unless we are aware and careful of using technology it will destroy our lives.

The Marriage in Comparison Between
Libyan Customs And American’s

Marriage in all the languages means to be true , faithful and loving to another human being , no matter what country takes place in , no matter what culture it is part of ; Unlike Libya , America customs are big different in terms of the proposing , the officiating , the ceremony of celebrating , the way life works ,and some quirks in the wedding day ; and are similar in some ways like the marriage season , the clothes of the spouse , the party and the singing .

In Libya ,where the Islam religion is fully obeyed, the term "zwaj" is used to refer to the marriage . According to a web site,” the conception of zwaj in Islam is a religious duty and consequently a moral safeguard as well as a social necessity “, (Marriage in Islam 3-4). Thus it is prohibited to date or get in contact with a girl before the zwaj, as the love is not that important in this stage compared with the reputation, the religion _"taqwa and Iman", and the standard living level of both families, whereas in America they used to be dating and meeting girls individually until they reach to an agreement point. Moreover , Libyan marriage is officiated by an Imam ;meanwhile , the groom attends with the bride's father who acts as a representative of his daughter, then both of them signs the contract in front of two witnesses ;indeed , signing the contract usually takes a place in the bride's home ; while American’s is conducted by the Priest and the venue for most American wedding is a church where the best man comes , the flower girls, the families and the friends are too , then the spouse exchange vows and rings , after that they kiss each other , (American Wedding Traditions, 25-31) ; however , it is not an obligation to have a wedding certificate and everything else , it is up to the couples. Furthermore, each spouse in Libyan wedding ceremony makes his own celebration by inviting the friends and the neighbors in his or her house, while in America the invitation is being in a restaurant. Another point, the most significantly American wedding custom is "Throwing The Rice"; that most brides want that to be involved in their wedding day as that indicates, in their believes, the prosperity, the enduring bountiful life (Oliveri, Deenise, 14-19), but in Libya the invitees used to bring durable and expensive gifts to encourage the spouse - zwaj life and express the ambition to be long life. Finally ,it is anomaly in Libya's customs of a wife to work ; in fact , the groom is used to be the breadwinner and the wife takes care of the home affairs ;in contrast , Americans used to share the life expenses between the spouse as well as the house work .
On the other hand, both countries are somewhat similar. For example, in both countries June is the high season of marriage; of course the weather is the most important factor in this issue (Oliveri, Deenise, 20-24). In addition, wearing the white western wedding gown and the veil over the bride's face and the black suit for the groom is common in both countries as well as having a dinner party after the announcing of the marriage. The last point is that American use traditional songs to celebrate the marriage such as " Heaven is a Place on Earth ", "Times Like These ", "Forget Every Thing "or " Swing, Swing "(Sound Tracks For American Wedding), and so do Libyans, the poets participate by their poems of " Love and Life ", and local singers by public songs like "Hobi Ween Khadoha Menni "and "Bent Algeran ".

In brief, the marriage customs is different from country to country according to the religion, or the distinct tradition of the people; However, the world today becomes a small village because of the advanced communication technology so that the marriage customs also are getting identical in many ways such as the clothing, the aspects of the ceremony, and the songs being repeated.

On the other hand , both countries are somewhat similar , for example , in both countries June is the high season of marriage ,of course the weather is the most important factor in this issue;in addition ,wearing the white western wedding gown and the veil over the bride's face and the black suit for the groom is common in both countries as well as having a dinner party after the announcing of the marriage . The last point is that American use traditional songs to celebrate the marriage such as " Heaven is a Place on Earth ", "Times Like These ", "Forget Every Thing "or " Swing , Swing " and so do Libyans , the poets participate by their poems of " Love and Life ", and local singers by public songs like "Hobi Ween Khadoha Menni "and "Bent Algeran ".

In brief , the marriage customs is different from country to country according to the religion ,or the distinct tradition of the people ; However , the world today becomes a small village because of the advanced communication technology so the marriage customs also are getting identical in many ways such as the clothing , the aspects of the ceremony, and the songs being repeated .
